Notes

  • Relative Paris Alignment: The fraction of a company's future coal portfolio that is aligned with the electricity demands of CTI's interpolation of the IEA's NetZeroBy2050 scenario. 100% = perfect alignment.

  • Absolute Paris Alignment: The yearly total coal capacity that is misaligned with the electricity demands of CTI's interpolation of the IEA's NetZeroBy2050 scenario. 0 = perfect alignment.


How to interpret the alignments:

This graphic displays each company's power capacity alignment with Net-Zero targets: moving to the right indicates a higher percentage of their coal (or gas) portfolio aligns with NetZero, and moving down signifies less capacity aligns in absolute terms. Companies positioned closer to the top right are better aligned with global climate goals, whereas those towards the bottom left are less aligned.
